Women in the history of gardening and landscape planning

Women are part of the professional history of landscape planning and garden art, whether they are women in farmer's, house and monastery gardens, as operators of so-called model farms, as feudal rulers with Renaissance and Baroque gardens or palace gardens in the style of the English landscape garden or as literary gardeners ,

In the course, the profession and professional history are considered from the feminist point of view. We investigate the diverse facets of women both as planners and as clients, users and managers of gardens, farms and landscapes. Women's biographies are presented as role models, and (de-) constructivist theoretical approaches to gender and space and their implementation in practice (gender-sensitive open space planning, GenderLandGap, etc.) as well as current theory approaches from sociology of space are discussed with the seminar participants.
